Philippines Obtains a Supersonic Missiles from India Brahmos Missiles
India and the Philippines have recently signed a 375 million dollar defense deal.
The deal involves the sale of the Brahmos Supersonic anti-ship missile system.
The missiles are meant for use by the Philippine Navy mainly the Philippine marines, amid growing concerns over Chinese recent activities in the South China Sea.
New Delhi has plans to boost defense ties with U.S. and its allies to counteract China's expanding military threat.

India has reached an agreement to supply the Philippines with the Brahmos anti-ship cruise missile system this could help counter balance recent Chinese assertiveness in disputed territories in the South china sea.
This is the first time India exported the Brahmos missile system. The most significant Indian arms export which would strengthen the Philippines defensive capabilities.
The Philippines proposed to buy three batteries of the supersonic missile system for $375 million dollars which India approved.
Each battery comprises two missile launchers, a radar and a command and control center. Each battery can fire two missiles within 10 seconds after launch.
The missiles system would be operated primarily by the Philippine marines coastal defense regiment. The deal also included training for operators and logistics support.
The missile were designed to counter China which contests the Philippines claims to land and fishing grounds on the South China Sea.
The Philippines is buying the shore-based variant of the Brahmos which has a range of 290 kilometers or 180 miles and can fly at almost 3 times the speed of sound.
The Indian government has adopted a strategy of proactive defense diplomacy in response to China's expanding naval activities in the In-Pacific region.
