What is Tetanus Toxoid (TT) injections and their purpose?
TT is a bacterial infection caused by Clostridium tetani, which enters the body through open wounds, dental procedures, or fractures. The infection is not contagious and produces a toxin in the bloodstream, making muscles spasmodic and rigid. Symptoms include headaches, swelling of the face, and seizures. Tetanus is combined with diphtheria pertussis, and vaccinations should be given at different ages for children and adults. Pregnant mothers should also receive tetanus injections to pass on antibodies to their babies. Complications of TT include stiffness, difficulty in swallowing, headaches, seizures, neck swelling, face swelling, and fever. To prevent serious issues, completing all vaccines and taking TT shots when needed is essential.
