Lytton made headlines this week after breaking the hottest temperature record in Canada for three days in a row.
Now the record is 49.6°C, breaking the record for the hottest in Las Vegas.
A rapidly spreading fire swept through the village of Lytton on Wednesday after days of intense heat and residents were forced to flee, many of whom were left without their belongings.
The video shows numerous buildings burning in all directions.
Lytton Mayor Ian Polderman ordered the evacuation of the entire village of about 250 people.
He signed a formal evacuation order at 6:00 pm PT.
"It's horrible. The whole city is on fire, "Polderman said. "It took about 15 minutes from the first signs of smoke before suddenly there was a fire everywhere."
The British Columbia Wildfire Service said the province's resources were being used to aid the Lytton Fire Brigade, which is spearheading the firefighting efforts.
Authorities were unable to estimate the size of the fire on Wednesday night or confirm how many structures were destroyed.
