On July 23, 2024, Goa Shipyard Limited launched the first of two advanced P1135.6 frigates, named Triput, for the Indian Navy. The 125-metre long, 15-metre wide frigate, with a displacement of approximately 3,600 tons and a maximum speed of 28 knots, is part of a 2016 contract with Russia for four frigates. The ceremony, which was graced by Goa's Governor, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, marks a significant milestone in enhancing India’s naval capabilities. The second frigate is also under construction, with delivery scheduled for 2026 and 2027. #IndianNavy #Defense #Frigates #Shipbuilding
