For example, Angela Ahrendts is the SVP for online and retail stores of Apple. While her role in this job is fairly new, it is speculated that she will make a few million a year, along with the company awarding her about $76 million in stocks. In May of 2013, Renee James became the president of Intel and became one of the most powerful women in the technology and business world. Before she even became president, Renee was making about $15 million per year. Susan Wojcicki became the CEO of YouTube after being one of Google’s earliest employees. She even let the Google creators rent her garage for $1700 per month as Google’s first office. Needless to say, the major internet corporation kind of owe Susan a lot.
Ursula Burns started out as an intern at Xerox back in 1980, and then she progressively moved through the ranks and eventually became CEO and chairwoman of the company in 2009. She was the first African American woman to lead a Fortune 500 company. Safra Catz is president and CFO of Oracle after starting in 1999 as an exec. After sticking to the company for quite some time, she moved up to the companies number two position.
Virginia Rometty is the CEO of IBM, and she first started at the company at the age of 24 in 1981 as a systems engineer. She is living proof that if you stick with a company long enough, you’ll eventually move up and be compensated with a wage that you rightly deserve. Marissa Mayer became the CEO of Yahoo in 2012 and was one of Google’s earliest employees. Her ideas included Google News and Gmail, so we can imagine her moving to Yahoo was a big loss. Meg Whitman became a millionaire from her finding of Ebay, and moved on to become the CEO of HP. Meg is considered to be the most powerful women in technology and business.
Indeed, all of these women are proof that with hard work and longevity with a company, you can reach for the stars of success.
