Filmed in January 2022.
Thanks to @ElevatorMan227 for finding photos of these elevators on TripAdvisor and sharing them to me, I now got to check out these elevators and man they are AMAZING!!! This is a hotel I've driven by for many years and have skipped filming at thinking they had something boring and generic (I was under the impression they had Otis Series 5, but it turns out I confused this place with the nearby Hilton). But BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! The moral of the story here is even if you THINK a place has boring elevators, still, check it out anyways cause WHO KNOWS!?!? You MAY find something amazing!
And these elevators certainly are AMAZING!!! These elevators are the 4th known LG/Sigma Elevators to have been discovered in the United States, the other 3 have been in Seattle (and I wanted to see them, but due to a lack of time, I unfortunately never made it to them....) and Sigma has a branch in Seattle, but they don't have one here!!! As to how and why these particular elevators were installed, I have NO IDEA, they were probably distributed by another manufacturer. Regardless though, I am not only amazed to be riding the 4th known bank of LG/Sigma Elevators in the United States, but the fact they are on my HOME TURF makes me EVEN MORE EXCITED!!!
This is a brand of elevator that outside of the now 4 known places that have these in the US is typically only found in Indonesia, South Korea, China and Hong Kong! And the indicators, lanterns and fixtures look like they came STRAIGHT from there!
I absolutely LOVE the chimes on these, they sound like a DOORBELL, and the indicators, fixtures, arrows and just everything about these is SO COOL and SO FOREIGN and unlike ANYTHING I've EVER SEEN BEFORE!!! Not to mention the ride quality is EXTREMELY SMOOTH, just as good as the New Mitsubishi's in Tampa if not EVEN BETTER!!!
All in all, an absolutely AMAZING Set of elevators!
There are a couple things that are a bit odd about these, the elevator in the bank that double as the service elevator has a "Staff Only" COP that doesn't seem to work, and the 2 doors in the car are not symmetrically straight across from another like most elevators with a rear door! Also, according to what I can find online, this hotel apparently opened in 1989, which if true, these elevators had to have been modded from something else. Judging by the doors, I'd assume General or Montgomery originally installed these, but honestly I have no clue.
Regardless though, these elevators are AMAZING and an absolute MUST RIDE if you visit the Tampa Bay Area!!!
As always, I hope you enjoy the video, and let me know what you guys think of these in the comments below!
Installed in 1989? (Unknown, according to [ Ссылка ])
Modernized/Replaced in Circa 2000s (LG/Sigma with Unknown fixtures, Adams fire service, New Motors, New Controllers, New Lanterns, etc. Only thing possibly still original would be the cabs and doors.)
