At first glance, the house at 148 Jane Street looked like any other. The two realtors, Gladys and Carla, received a call from an elderly woman named Joyce, who wanted to sell her home. They had seen countless houses throughout their careers, and nothing about this one seemed out of the ordinary. The sisters expected it to be an easy job, a typical visit to evaluate a property. They assumed, given Joyce’s age, that the house would be in a state of disrepair after 70 years without renovation.
