This is basically how I close my 21 foot above ground swimming pool. I do not use the pool closing kit that is sold. You do not really need the kit!
I start by doing a shock treatment, Day one: I put 900grams of Chlorine (HTH granulated pool chlorine). on day 2, I put a cup of dishwasher soap into the pool (directly in the skimmer.) day 3: Vacuum the pool and do a back wash to clean pool filter. Remove the stairs. Lower the water level of the pool till there is only about a foot of water left.
disconnect the hoses and bring pump indoors. **put pool anti freeze in pool drain**
