Vardzia ia a cave monastery site dating from the 12th century, located in the very south of Georgia. The monks who excavated the caves clearly liked being out of the way, and the only practical way to visit is to either stay overnight, or take a day trip from the spa town of Borjomi. The setting is truly other-worldly.
