Sam Venning recounts the evening in mid-2013 when he and a Canadian friend, Carla Bartel survived an apparently unprovoked attack in the very same spot on Sairee Beach where Hannah Witheridge and David Miller were brutally bludgeoned to death a year later on 15 September 2014.

By coincidence, Sam Venning took diving lessons with Pat "Santi" Khokpool who is featured in other videos on this channel as a result of his attack on a Scottish tourist in the Fishbowl Beach Bar on 15 August 2020. In that attack Santi slashed open the left side of the neck of the tourist in an unprovoked attack. Santi was then fired by BAN'S DIVING RESORT and expelled by PADI (the Professional Association of Diving Instructors).
