The new Volvo EM90 will be based on the Chinese electric minivan Zeekr 009, which is owned by Geely Auto, the same company that owns Volvo. The bodies of the two cars will be largely similar, with the main differences being in the design of the front and rear parts. The Volvo minivan will have headlights and a bumper in the style of their new electric crossovers - the EX30 and EX90.
The Zeekr 009 is built on the SEA platform with air suspension, which is also used by other models such as the Polestar 4 and Polestar 5, the new Smarts, and the Volvo EX30 electric SUV. In China, it’s offered with twin-engine all-wheel drive and two battery options - 116 or 140 kWh - providing a range of 702 and 822 km respectively.
