Sounds ridiculous, right? But as a small business owner, if you’re not chasing your outstanding invoices, that’s exactly what you’re doing!
One thing I see way too often is business owners not following up on unpaid invoices. It drives me mad! 😤
Think about it: You did the work. You deserve to be paid. But I hear it all the time: “I don’t want to chase them because they’re my biggest client, and I don’t want to upset the relationship.”
Well, newsflash! They’ve already upset the relationship by not paying you.
“But if I lose them, I’ll have no income!”
Here’s the thing—you’ve already got no income if they’re not paying! You’re working for free, and that’s not sustainable. You’re better off investing that time in finding clients who will pay you, rather than being busy and unpaid.
And don’t get me started on 90-day payment terms. If you need money sooner, those terms just don’t work for you.
Prioritise your financial health. Chase your invoices, and if clients don’t pay, move on. You deserve clients who value and pay for your work. 💸
