This webinar reviews an advanced treatment option for abdominal and pelvic sarcomas. The different histologic subtypes and rarity of these tumors lead to a lack of evidence as to which treatment plan is most effective. While surgery is the predominate treatment method used, chemotherapy and radiotherapy have applications in certain histologic subtypes.
The emphasis in surgery is to reduce locoregional recurrences, which are affected by histologic subtype and the types of treatments used.
- Electron IORT can reduce the local recurrence of tumors.
- HIPEC can reduce the peritoneal recurrence of tumors.
The combination of surgery, Electron IORT, and HIPEC is promising in patients with elevated risk for both local and peritoneal recurrences. In this webinar, Dr. Amin discusses his successful use of this method and will present the results, rationale, and safety profile.

Dr. Amin has also established a sophisticated intra-operative radiotherapy (IORT) program for advanced cancer surgery in Saudi Arabia. He has also applied the combination of HIPEC and IORT in selected patients with advanced cancer, and he has the largest number of patients treated with this combination in the world.
