“I was just trying to get back home.”
A disqualified driver who drove at speeds of 90mph in residential areas has been jailed.
Carl Blower was also wanted on recall to prison for breaching his bail conditions when he failed to stop for officers on the A167 on September 27.
The 36-year-old, of Ferryhill, overtook other drivers in a WV Golf at speeds of up to 95mph, putting the public at risk.
And even when the vehicle was stung by officers, he continued to drive dangerously, often on the wrong side of the road and causing other road users to have to slam on the brakes.
Blower was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, having no insurance and refusing to provide a blood sample.
He appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on September 28 and was remanded into custody for sentencing at Durham Crown Court on November 4.
Blower was sentenced to 14 months in prison and disqualified from driving for two years.
