Penemuan ini segera dilaporkan kepada pemerintah Kabupaten Blora. Setelah diteliti lebih lanjut, kedua tulang tersebut ternyata merupakan tulang paha dan tulang tibia dari gajah prasejarah yang disebut stegodon. Tulang paha memiliki panjang 90 sentimeter dan berat 78 kilogram, sedangkan tulang kering memiliki panjang 80 sentimeter dan berat 50 kilogram. Para ahli berspekulasi bahwa tulang-tulang tersebut berusia 300 ribu tahun.
