Ali Carter vs John Higgins in the Quarter Final of the 2020 Masters.
Ali was ranked 17th in rhe World and was only allowed to compete because Ronnie O'Sullivan withdrew from the tournament.
He was 4-3 up against John in a first to 6 match. He played the yellow and missed in completely. This would've given Higgins 4 points and allowed him to ask Carter to play again from where the white landed, putting him in a lot of trouble with 3 open reds left and no easy shot.
Carter convinced the inexperienced ref who had no playback facility that he hit the ball. He then went on to win that frame and the match.
Was it cheating or a genuine mistake?
