On August 25th, 2024, a historic moment unfolded in Moroto Karamoja Diocese as Christians gathered to witness their first-ever peaceful transition of power from one Bishop to another.
Rt. Rev. Micheal Chorey, now the 5th Bishop of Karamoja Diocese, officially succeeded Rt. Rev. Joseph Abura, who served as Bishop since 2007.
Following his consecration and enthronement, we had the opportunity to speak with Bishop Micheal at St. Philip's Cathedral in Moroto and he pledged to continue the mission of spreading God's word across the Diocese. He also recognized the significant challenges facing the region, including famine, insecurity, and inadequate health and education facilities.
