Kevin Uballez was fired after an investigation into an arrest he made, where he is accused of slamming a man's head into the ground.
The man he arrested was accused of being drunk and in the middle of street in NW Bend around 1AM. Uballez faced criminal charges for the incident, though the were later dropped. Bend Police then started an internal investigation into the accused excessive force, which wrapped up not long ago. Uballez was fire shortly after. A spokeswoman for Bend Police said because of an ongoing civil suit brought by the man arrested, they could not provide more information on the officers departure.
While on paid leave for 2 1/2 years, Uballez got more than 180, in compensation.
Bend Police said Uballez worked at a patrol officer and in the K-9 unit. He was on the force for 7 years.
