Richard Briers was the second-fastest speaker of lines in the business. (Leonard Rossiter was champion, and never surpassed.) Felicity Kendal came from a theatre family which toured India. Penelope Keith made it the way most of us do, and so did Paul Eddington (who wasn’t in my scene). But, together, they made one of those rare show-biz teams which works together with generosity and brilliance – never a cross word between them.
Walking in cold to interact with such a polished, high-octane enterprise was always an adventure. In sit-com there’s no time, or money, to feel around and explore. Hit the marks, adjust the timing and SCORE.
And this time in a suit, not a uniform.
