Hundreds of Mosul residents continued to flee the city on Friday as Iraqi troops backed by US-led airstrikes pushed deeper into the east of the city in a multi-pronged assault after a two-week lull.
Smoke rose across the city as explosions and machine gun fire echoed through the streets.
Fleeing residents waited for transport to IDP (internally displaced persons) camps on the outskirts of the city.
Iraqi forces said on Thursday they would drive IS from Mosul and the rest of Nineveh province within three months.
The city is still home to around a million people.
Some 120-thousand people have fled since the operation began in October, many of them live in IDP camps in northern Iraq.
