We love art and the people who make it. And we're excited to share animated stories of some of our favorite artists.

For Episode 1 of "Artoonz," meet El Anatsui. Born in 1944, Anatsui is a hugely famous African artist who has been making art from junk since he was a kid.

As a boy, Anatsui wandered the beaches of his fishing village of Anyako, searching for discarded treasures left by visitors to his land. His Dad and brothers made art, poetry and music. He became fascinated and inspired by what they made. So he started making his own things. And people all over the world started liking it.

Anatsui creates with many different materials, but he really likes working with stuff he finds. And he likes getting a bunch of people excited about a project. Then they work together. And they achieve great things together. .
