Getting off my narrowboat home I take an early morning towpath walk at Gurnett Aqueduct, Sutton just outside the market town of Macclesfield. I visit bridge 43, one of six beautifully designed and built bridges along the Macclesfield canal called turnover bridges. Also known as roving, serpent or snaily bridges by locals. And Sutton for seven years was home and work place for the great engineer James Brindley, were he was an apprentice wheelwright in the 1700's.
One spectacular event and view witnessed by Brindley can be still seen to this day, the sunrise over the hills and cottage.

The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter.
