Jawed Karim is a Bangladeshi German-American Internet entrepreneur. He is best known for being a co-founder of YouTube. .
His father Naimul Karim is a Bangladeshi American researcher and his mother Christine Karim is a German scientist. Karim grew up in Germany and the family moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1992.

While at PayPal, he implemented the company's first real-time anti-fraud system.There he met Chad Hurley and Steve Chen. The inspiration for YouTube first came from when Janet Jackson's Super Bowl incident’s video was viral in 2004.
Karim could not easily find video clips of either event online, which led to the idea of a video sharing site. The three later founded the YouTube video sharing website in February 14, 2005. In November 2006, it was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion then Karim's stock was valued at $64.6 million.
