Winter sports highlights and winners of ISPO Award - ISPO Munich 2018
When the winter sports article industry presents its latest products on the mountain, that means it’s ISPO on snow Preview, again. And that also means: ISPO Munich 2018 is just around the corner!
In the snow, the novelties of the ISPO Award nominees are put through their paces.
HEAD brings its winner in the category snowboard hardware to the mountain.
Max Thurner, Int. Marketing Snowboard & Protection HEAD"The Operator is the first multisport snowboard boot on the market. We developed it because of strong demand from the market and also from the industry to offer products that not only satisfy a sport or a need, but are simply a bit more widely spread."
The inner-shoe system also withstands temperatures of up to minus 40 degrees.
Komperdell has managed to develop the lightest snow shoe on the market. Thanks to ultralight carbon, it only weighs about 600 grams.
Jörg Tichy, Head of Marketing Komperdell "The less weight I have to carry, the easier it is. It's less strenuous. On an average tour I take between 7000 and 10,000 steps, and if I have a half to a kilo less at every step then it makes a considerable difference over the whole tour."
Never wax again thanks to Phantom Glide, is the motto of DPS Ski, the winner of the ISPO Award in the category Snow Sports Accessories.
Roland Knapp, Special Operations Manager DPS Ski"The motivation was to give the skier a product where he only waxes the ski once in a lifetime, and that really stays in the coating until the ski has served its time."
Also Phantom Glide is more environmentally friendly than conventional wax.
On the piste K2 aims to delight sporty women with its new ski. Yes, right first time, this ski is for women only. Developed by women.
Laura Engel, Marketing Coordinator Europe K2 Sports"The Luv-Machine is a very sporty ski. Which was built for fit women, where you can really carve properly, which also on holds up well on hard pistes and which is also very sporty to ski."
Top male athletes such as Dominik Paris and Felix Neureuther were involved in the further development of the Dobermann Raceski-Series from NORDICA.
Sego Ski comes directly from Freeride-El-Dorado Idaho with a mixture of touring and freeride skis onto the European market. The Condor series is characterised by its lightness, which benefits the ski hiker.
Hikers have to rely on safety. Ortovox is introducing a new ultralight avalanche shovel. But Scott Sports doesn't want to let it get that far. The Backcountry Patrol AP 30 is the perfect backpack for free-skiers, equipped with the new electric Alpride E 1 avalanche airbag.
When it comes to goggles, Giro is focusing on new high-end glasses equipped with a magnetic quick-change mechanism for the lenses. A contrast-enhancing technology of the lenses significantly improves the visibility in snow. And that reaped rewards:
Sören Borcherding, Brand Manager GIRO
"We are delighted that we are the winners in the ISPO Award Category Accessories. Giro, the manufacturer, will also be very happy because they have put their heart and soul into every product, and also brought a great product to the market together with Agent & Eve. Through the recognition of the ISPO jury, it is clear we have created a hot product again."
Further ISPO Award winners and many winter sports highlights await you at ISPO Munich 2018!
