Eve Angeline: Hi, it's Eve Angeline from etrailer.com, and today we are looking at the Titan Chain Diamond Alloy Snow Tire Chain here on our 2020 Subaru Forester. So, this is a Class S chain, which is great when you don't have a lot of clearance and you need something that's low profile. It's also very easy to install, which is awesome, especially in emergency situations. When you need to pull over real quick, throw that tire chain on, and drive safely. So, the way this is designed is it has a diamond pattern, which means it covers a lot more of your tire, which helps with ABS system. So, when you have your starts and your stops, you won't have to worry about it with this type of chain on. It also has the square links, which really help give that traction you need on the road. One of my favorite features about this is the way our front links are coated as well as colored. So the coating helps protect your tire, as well as your fingers from freezing off if you're not wearing gloves like me, but please wear gloves.
It helps a lot, I promise. They're also color-coded, which helps after maybe a long summer, or when you forget how to put on your tire chains, it really guides you through the install process. So, let's see how we installed it. Before we install the chains, I like to just set them out and comb out the chains to make sure there aren't any tangles or warped links. And this looks good right here. So, when you think your chain is ready to go, you start with the yellow part.
You're going to feed this around your tire. When it's gone up around enough, you can then grab the other end. And what I've found helps a lot with installing it is to comb it out again and make sure it has this nice arc around the tire. That just helps it all fall into place. Then, you have to get your yellow end and attach it to the other end behind the tire.
So bring it up, click that together and just leave it there in the back, so that there, you can then pull the other chains forward. And I like the diamond-style pattern because it has that point in the middle, which lets you know when your chains are centered over your tire. While you're up here, just attach the green end to that yellow end, and then bring the bottom ends together. You can see here, this has a hook that you feed this chain through, and pull it. When you think you've pulled it tight enough, really try to get all that tension out right here, you can then feed it through these loops so that rubber end goes through the loop. So, one loop, two loops.
Keep that tension there and then find a spot near the top where you can hook it into and make sure the hook is facing away from your tire.On our tire here, I hooked it up onto the chain, right near the top. On other tires, maybe smaller tires, you can bring it all the way to the other end, or closer. It just depends on what fits your vehicle's tire the best. You can see here, this is a good fit. You've got a lot of tension in there and it's snug to the tire. So, our tire size is 225/55R18, and since this is an all-wheel-drive vehicle, we have it here on the front tire. So, just make sure to install the other side on the other tire and you're good to go.My final thoughts about the snow tire chains is I like the way they're just designed to really help you, especially in emergency situations. Easy to mount, easier to install, and easy to store as well. I like the bag they come in. It's nice, durable, you can fit it in your trunk, underneath your seat, and you're ready to go.So, that was a look at our Titan Chain Alloy Diamond Snow Tire Chain here on our 2020 Subaru Forester.
