Andrew Furey, the premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, provides an update on the province’s COVID-19 response amid an increase in cases and on the plan for students’ return to school in January after the holiday break. He is joined by Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, the province's chief medical officer of health, John Haggie, minister of health, and Tom Osborne, the minister of education. Schools will be moving to an online format starting on January 4. The province is also introducing new restrictions for acute care and long-term care facilities. For the next two weeks, visitation will be restricted to one designated essential person.
