Cleaning the microwave can be a pain, as baked on food bits are often very hard to remove.
In this quick how-to video, we explain how to clean a microwave using a slice of lemon and a bowl of water.
First, cut a slice of lemon with a sharp knife.
Next, place the slice of lemon in a microwave-safe bowl filled with water.
Put the bowl in the microwave and cook it on 'high' for 3 minutes.
Carefully remove the bowl once it has finished. Make sure you wear oven mitts as the bowl will be extremely hot.
Finally, give the microwave a quick scrub with a sponge, and you will find that the baked on grime comes right off!
The secret to this trick is steam and the citric acid in lemons. Once the lemony water is heated, it releases steam which, with the aid of the citric acid, helps shift stubborn grime.
It also leaves your microwave smelling fresh and delicious!
