ASHLAND, Va. -- As Congress prepares to affirm President-elect Joe Biden's victory, hundreds of President Donald Trump fans are in Washington to show their support for him.
Early Wednesday morning, a MAGA Caravan rolled through Central Virginia on its way to D.C.
The nationwide caravan is made up of four cross-country routes. One of the routes included a stop in Ashland.
"This all started on a little internet chat board," a route operator from Alabama who provided the name Pi Anon said. "A lot of followers came up with the idea of having a caravan come down to answer the President's call to have patriots come to D.C. on the 6th. We're actually kind of surprised and impressed how big that this became."
A CBS 6 photojournalist counted at least 60 vehicles in the caravan at the Ashland stop.
President Trump is expected to personally address a Wednesday morning rally on the Ellipse, just south of the White House.
Trump's remarks will come just hours before members of the House and Senate gather at the Capitol to accept the vote of the Electoral College.
On Tuesday, protesters gathered in Freedom Plaza near the White House in opposition to the electoral vote.
The pro-Trump rallies have local officials and law enforcement bracing for potential violent street clashes.
