BJJ black belts Tom Lynn Jr and Michel "Buiu" Pereira flew out to Kalamazoo, Michigan to surprise Amir Khillah and promote him to BJJ Black Belt.
Buiu is the owner/ head professor at Carlson Gracie Miami in Florida, his student professor Tom Lynn owns/operates The Academy of Martial Arts in Monument, CO. Amir owns Lighting Kicks Martial Arts in Kalamazoo, MI.
These guys are not only all connected through Jiu-Jitsu, but are also very close friends even though they live spread out across the country from each other.
Amir and Tom are both black belts in Taekwondo and met over 20 years ago when they were both elite athletes for the United States Taekwondo Team. They both then went on to compete in MMA and of course BJJ where they met their Professor Buiu.
Amir has a black belt in Taekwondo, Hapkido, and now BJJ. He was also a Pro MMA fighter and fought on the Ultimate Fighter TV show as well as for Bellator.

This is a very special moment that will not soon be forgotten by anyone involved.
