Restore to Me the Joy of Thy Salvation
Written in 1987 by Clark Thomas
I remember when I heard there was a God Who kept His Word
and how I wanted to know everything that He had said,
And how it opened up to me, that for the first time I could see
that my name was written in that Holy Book.
Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation; return to me the zeal that I once knew,
And Lord I pray you’ll give more revelation, that I’d always do the things you’d have me do.
I remember when I saw I was a debtor to the law,
till Jesus on the cross for me did pay it off,
And how I wanted then to live, bearing record of that gift,
a life completely free of any sin.
Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation; return to me the zeal that I once knew,
And Lord I pray you’ll give more revelation, that I’d always do the things you’d have me do.
I remember when I found there was a God who was around
to pick me back up to the place from which I’d fallen down,
And oh the grace I knew that hour, that I could know His saving power
and through redemption be a son of God.
Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation; return to me the zeal that I once knew,
And Lord I pray you’ll give more revelation, that I’d always do the things you’d have me do.
