The Toolbox is the second boss fight in It Takes Two and requires some collaboration, as you would expect, get through.
The Toolbox has the following tricks up his sleeve. He might retract his arm, like this, and then swipe the floor. Jump immediately after the arm hits the floor, and use the double jump plus mid-air dodge to stay clear of it. Now the trick is when he performs this dodge, there is a metal ring where Cody can throw a nail in. Over here. Now throw two nails on these yellow bits of plank. After this, he’ll bring out the drilling machine to make some holes on the platform Cody and May are on. More dangerous are the nails that he launches. They are clearly indicated with the shadows and there is not much else you can do besides dodging. Jump over the rotating metal arms. Now it is important that you keep moving. You cannot stand still because either the nails will hit you or the blades will push you away. So run and jump a lot.
Another opportunity will open for May to get to the other side. The toolbox will open and an explosive spray can falls into the box. Dodge away from the rotating shovel. Keep moving so the shovel will not flatten you – but beware of the holes in the floor. It’s better to tilt your camera higher, so you have a better overview. After a couple of smashes, the shovel will remain on the floor. Step with Cody on it, and let May launch you into the air. Aim and fire at the spray can. Try throwing multiple nails – it’s possible.
Now the toolbox gets serious. A circular saw starts taking pieces from the floor. The platform will become smaller and smaller but, as I said before, keep moving and your chances are better. Especially beware of the rotating shovel again. You can actually run around it, and duck under it, like this. Launch Cody in the air.
Now the platform will get even smaller. Like I said, keep moving like this and you will make it out of it until finally Cody destroys the spray can. I guess that was the final nail in the coffin.'
