Tens of thousands of people gathered in the French capital for an LGBT Pride march on Saturday (June 25).
Participants held signs reading "Walk if you are proud" and "Sorry dad, I love people" while others danced.
"I think there is still a lot of progress to be made," said Maeve, a participant.
"You feel that you’re finally finding people that are like you, and you feel less alone," said Lyn, another participant.
France was the 14th country in the world to legalise gay marriage.
SOUNDBITEs of Participants in French
MAEVA:
"We still have things to say and to show, I think, because we are not considered as so-called 'normal people.' Yes, I think there is still a lot of progress to be made."
THOMAS:
"To not feel alone, first, there are many people with us. It’s also cool because it’s a good moment."
MAEVA:
"It liberates the spirits and it shows people that we are all equal, too, I think."
LYN:
"We feel good, it’s a pleasure to finally gather together. For certain people it’s the first Pride that they attend since they came out. You feel that you’re finally finding people that are like you, and you feel less alone."
ORANE:
"This is also my first Pride. I feel that it’s very symbolic to do this today and it’s very enjoyable."
