This your boy Jon from Orlando Aerial Videos, how you guy's doing? I'm going to be showing you a behind the scenes video of filming the world's second largest rock. La piedra del penol in Guatape, Colombia. To reach the top you must climb 740 steps to reach it's peak. Let me remind you I'm carrying the drone here and a whole bunch of equipment so being hydrated before you climb is very important. Having a buddy or visual observer will also come in handy here to help you out. Some other factors we considered before filming were the weather, UV-rays, and of course being granted permission to film at the rock. Now the following 2 shots are some of the hardest shots I have ever done with the drone. I had to fight against the wind and I also lost connection while filming. Luckily, I was able to reestablish connection and get some really awesome shots. At the end of the day I really like how all the shots came about. Being able to regain your drone after a lost connection is very important. Also, you need to keep an eye for unforeseen obstacles such as flying birds, power lines, and other things. I tried to be as mentally prepared as I could I cannot stress how important this is. Keep in mind flight orientation is become more difficult when your already 7000 feet high and trying to fly the drone a couple of hundred meters above that. Overall I had a blast and loved the footage. I also manged to pull off a 360 degree panorama shot that was awesome. Thanks for watching!
