In celebration of the 65th birthday of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, the Commanding General, Philippine Air Force, LtGen Connor Anthony D Canlas Sr PAF, personally hands over a special gift – a colorized version of a picture of the President as a young boy with his father, the late President Ferdinand E Marcos Sr, standing with the famed Philippine Air Force aerobatic team, the “Blue Diamonds.” The members of the team in the said picture taken in 1966 during the Aviation Week Airshow at the Manila International Airport was led by its team leader, Maj Angel L Mapua.

The picture is reminiscent of the glory days of the PAF during the incumbency of President Marcos Sr. in which the said team was branded as one of the best in the region. Shown at the background is the F-86 Sabre jet which flew its last demonstration flight in 1966 prior to being replaced by a more advanced platform, the F-5A “Freedom Fighter”.

To His Excellency, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr, we wish you a happy happy birthday as well as glory days ahead for the Philippine Air Force and the whole Armed Forces of the Philippines under your leadership as Commander-in-Chief!
