Documenting my experiences as a new beekeeper in the UK.
I've got a hive and some other equipment on order. In the meantime I decided to make some swarm traps to see if I can catch some bees. They're pretty simple to make, I just constructed a container of about 40 litres out of plywood. I filled it with ten brood box frames, each with a strip of about 1" of foundation. The traps were baited with lemongrass oil and put on the roof of a couple of sheds in the garden, facing southwards.
Fingers crossed I'll catch something! I'll update you in the next vlog. If you've got any thoughts or advice, please feel free to leave a comment below.
