On The Newshour Agenda with Padmaja Joshi, we mourn the death of Father Stan Swamy. 84-year old UAPA accused was denied basic dignity, he was suffering from Parkinson’s and was denied bail even during the pandemic. Father Swamy passed away at 1:30 pm this afternoon at the Holy Family Hospital in Mumbai. He was a tribal rights activist who spent his 60 years in central India and was working with the poor there. Controversies have sparked over his death, and many have questioned the judicial stance on his death.
