The Rewilding Play design studio was led by Professor Susan Herrington and Teaching Assistant Jonathan Behnke. Students rewilded the children’s outdoor play spaces with interventions installed to bring back the exuberance, mystery, and magic of children’s outdoor play. Students engaged with YMCA Early Childhood Educators (ECE), Métis herbalist/educator Lori Snyder, Children’s Hospital researcher and director of the UBC Human Early Learning Partnership Dr. Mariana Brussoni, and Breann Corcoran from the BC Cancer Agency. The impacts of student interventions on children’s health is now being studied by Dr. Mariana Brussoni as part of the PRO-ECO Project and Breann Corcoran’s Dappled Light Study.
