Patricia Arquette, actress and humanitarian, sits down to talk with Will Marre, founder of Smart Power Institute. She begins by discussing GiveLove.org. Give Love is a group who works to supply sanitation in developing countries. She has a drive to help others succeed, which becomes evident as she discusses equal rights/equal pay.
Patricia grows up to see how working to make a full living as a woman is challenging. She talks about her journey to Congress and her attempt to change the minds of lawmakers on this issue and how she will continue to fight until she does.
Patricia discusses self bravery and how it got her into acting. She began by teaching herself to not be afraid to negotiate or to put herself out there, which meant she would have to be okay with failure or judgment from others. Ultimately, her processes help surpass the goals and dreams she had for herself and to be extremely successful in what she does. She wants to share her success with as many other women as possible.
Patricia’s goal is to help get the Equal Rights Amendment passed. Without the amendment, it takes twice as long for women to get promoted in the workforce. From this difficulty stems depression, which can affect many aspects of a woman’s life. These constant setbacks become a chain reaction of woe for these women, but if we come together we can be a powerful voice to change that.
Patricia strongly suggests contacting lawmakers and making sure to use “positive nagging” to get them used to the idea that women deserve a change for the better. Equal rights is an issue that needs to be focused on because women are suffering all around us.
