- [Announcer] Miami Cancer Institute offers a wide range of services to support and comfort you through your cancer journey. Patient navigation is a free service that helps you and your family manage clinical and practical challenges during your cancer care. Contact the patient navigation team anytime you have questions or need help. You'll meet your nurse navigator before you begin treatment. The patient navigation service explains your treatment options, customizes your care, connects you to community resources, refers you to other healthcare professionals as needed, and provides emotional support and guidance. Your nurse navigator will introduce you to the Cancer Patient Support Center located on the third floor of the main building. The Support Center's medical team includes experts in psychology and psychiatry, integrative medicine, physical rehabilitation, and pain management. They provide services and programs to promote healing, recovery, and wellness, including emotional counseling, rehabilitation services, nutrition counseling, survivorship counseling, social services, and community programs, exercise, massage and acupuncture, a brain fitness lab, and art and music therapy. The Cancer Patient Support Center also includes an interdenominational chapel. Chaplains are available to provide spiritual support and counseling to people of all faiths. The Patient and Family Resource Center is located on the second floor of the main building. The Resource Center houses health-related books and journals, as well as computer workstations with internet access. Staff is able to help you access reliable, supplemental patient education information. The boutique is located in the main lobby of the main building. This award-winning shop sells specially designed intimate apparel, including mastectomy bras, breast prosthetics, wigs, and skincare products for our female cancer patients. The caring and highly experienced staff offers personalized mastectomy and wig fittings, as well as makeup and hair consultations. The Imaging Department is located on the first floor of the main building. This department performs the various types of scans your physicians use to diagnose your condition and evaluate your treatment. When you're scheduled for imaging, you'll receive a call in advance to confirm your appointment and to provide any special instructions. Imaging services include x-ray, CT, PET/CT, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and MRI. On the second floor of the main building, you'll find the specialty pharmacy. Registered pharmacists will fill your prescriptions, provide over-the-counter medications, and advise you on your medication regimen. For your first pharmacy visit, you must a list of your current medications and supplements, an allergy list, and your insurance card. Financial counselors are available to explain your prescription drug coverage and assist with billing. Clinical laboratories are located on the second, third, and fourth floors of the main building, as well as the second floor of the research building. The labs provide phlebotomy, or blood drawing services for testing. The labs also perform many common tests onsite, so your results can be reviewed during your visit. For tests that must be sent to outside laboratories, phlebotomy services are offered free of charge, saving you an additional trip to the outside lab. The symptom management and palliative care program is located on the third floor of the research building. This outpatient program helps you optimize quality of life for patients and families facing a life-limiting illness. A dedicated clinician is on-call around the clock, and same day consultations are available. The Express Symptom Management service helps cancer patients deal with symptoms and treatment side effects that require immediate attention. When you call Express Symptom Management, you'll be connected with an advanced practice provider who will review your symptoms and discuss your plan of care. Express Symptom Management is also available through the Baptist Health app. You can download and install the app on any mobile device or PC, so you can easily connect to Express Symptom Management in the app.
