This August, Congolese-Belgian artist Nkisi explored the power of collective imagination in a new composition for the debut edition of OPENLESS, part of Berlin Atonal.

Honouring the Senegalese icon Doudou NDiaye Rose, master of the sabar (a traditional drum), Nkisi's show reimagined the art of oral storytelling, spurring recollection and reconnection through ancestral drum patterns.
