This is the Weinsberg CaraTour Fiat Ducato camper van. It comes in three sizes, 630 centimetres, 599cm or 540cm. It can come with up to seven sleeping places. That is what the manufacturers claim! That is seven humans not dogs! They also claim a payload of 700kg. Yes, right. Maybe you can get 700kg if you strip everything out of it.
For 2021 it has what Weinsberg considers to be a new, sporty cool look in the interior which was Inspired by the "50 Years Limited Edition". That edition came out in 2019 for one of the anniversaries of Weinsberg so is in fact a rehash of an old idea. Never mind, if it was popular, definitely do it again. As you can see, it has light silver-grey tones with anthracite accents. There are CPL surfaces which are designed to be hard wearing and match the sporty, dynamic vehicle character.
Upholstery is now also available in imitation leather.
The vehicle now can come with a big roof window or a tent in the roof or for those who are short of cash, neither a tent nor a window.
The large SKYROOF panoramic roof window in the front can be installed in vehicles with H2 roof height. I like a roof window as not only does it create the idea of more space, but also allows plenty of light to enter the interior and a clear view of the stars at night. The window can be opened and therefore comes with the kit that an opening window has : an insect screen in addition to the blackout blind.
The tent in the roof is available in those vehicles based on the L2H2, L4H2 and L5H2 chassis. It is built using LFI technology (long fibre injection) which is said to be stable. The integrated lift-tilt roof hood is located right above the entrance area when the roof is closed. In addition, the new pop-up roof is aerodynamically optimised for low air resistance on the road. You get into the tent in the roof via a ladder. Inside the tent there is ambient lighting and integrated reading lights, heating vents and a mattress measuring 200 by 135cm. The roof has ventilation channels for the mattress. The mattress itself is made with an additional fabric to efficiently prevent moisture formation. The manufacturer claims that the closed substructure of the Pop-Up Roof increases the stiffness and load-bearing capacity of the roof. The tent also comes with USB sockets for charging tablets, mobile phones, etc. The devices can then be stowed away in the integrated shelves. As with all pop up roof tents, there is a mosquito net.
The pop up roof can be retracted via a sling that then should lie flat on the van. In the six metre version, it may be possible to add an additional roof window in the rear or a roof air-conditioning system.
In order to retain the silhouette of the CUV, the frame of the pop-up roof has been extended to match the length of the vehicle. There is also a newly developed awning bracket which as a rain gutter.
