(23 Mar 2015) Britain's defence secretary said on Monday that NATO members Romania and Britain will not be intimidated by threats against members of the military alliance.
Michael Fallon added that the two countries "stand together against any possible future aggression."
He made the statement during a joint news conference with Romanian Minister of Defence Mircea Dusa in Bucharest.
Fallon's comments came after Russia's ambassador to Denmark, Mikhail Vanin, said the previous weekend that Danish warships could become targets for Russian nuclear missiles if the Danes join the alliance's missile defence system.
Bases are planned in the southern Romanian town of Deveselu and in Poland.
Fallon was in Romania for a one-day visit to discuss regional security issues, including security in the Black Sea region and the crisis in neighbouring Ukraine.
