My favorite gypsy movie, by the great director Emir Kusturica. "Time of the Gypsies" was originally a 5 part TV Mini-Series aired on TV Sarajevo. They edited it down to 2hrs20min and released it as a movie.
"The first feature to be filmed with its entire dialogue in the Gypsy language, Romany."
The only gypsies I've actually met were in the USA. There was a community of gypsies in Johnston, SC. years ago, and may still be there? They all had fine homes, and would not do any scamming in their area. The King would usually live in the center of the community, and had the finest house. The members of that group of gypsies would have to pay the King a certain amount periodically, and if they couldn't they were kicked out of the tribe. They would all pack up and head to different states to do their cons. You knew when they were out doing there thing when they put tin foil on their windows. They would usually drive new top of the line Ford, Chevy, or Dodge pickups. They were very industrious, but there was usually something illegal with what they were doing, lol. They were very interesting, and very secretive.
