PART 1
Welcome to a new series of restoration work being carried out on this 2001 E39 M5.
It belongs to a Redish staff member - James P - our Service Manager who's been with us since 2017.
James P has owned this E39 M5 since 2014 and uses it as a daily along with his E90 M3.
In fact, James P has quite a cool collection of 4x M Power vehicles (the other 2 being E34 M5 LE's - one of which we're restoring and creating another upcoming YT series on).
James P was happy with the external body and paint on his M5 but could see some basic corrosion beginning to form around the Rear Sills & Rear Jacking Points.
So it was decided these would be tackled and we all hoped it would be surface corrosion that could be removed, treated, and protected.
WOW, were we in for a shock!
Not only did both Rear Jacking Points crumble away to reveal great big holes, but then he pulls out all the stops and instructs us to remove all the rear running gear and 'Save This Chassis' once and for all.
