On Thursday, March 8, 2012, Dr. Mary Habeck discussed the future of terrorism and counter-terrorism in an age of limited budgets. She argued that terror groups are just as much of a threat today as they were earlier and budget cuts are leaving the US less able to deal effectively with these threats.
Dr. Habeck is an Associate Professor of Strategic Studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Dr. Habeck was appointed by President Bush to the Council on the Humanities at the National Endowment for the Humanities and served as the Special Advisor for Strategic Planning on the National Security Council staff. In addition to books and articles on doctrine, World War I, the Spanish Civil War, and al-Qa'ida, her publications include Knowing the Enemy: Jihadist Ideology and the War on Terror.
