Rosé style wines are most often made using red wine grapes but limiting the skin contact in one of several methods. This video goes over the most common ways to make a rose wine which can easily be done at home with standard winemaking equipment. The grapes that I used to make this rose wine are an Old Vine Zinfandel from Lodi, California. The method that I used in this case was the saignee method which allows you to increase the skin to juice ratio of your red wine, increasing the color and intensity, while making a rose on the side. Any red wine grapes can be used to make a rose wine, including cabernet sauvignon, and pinot noir.
