This webinar was recorded during Pollinator's Week 2020, hosted by Laura Venner and Ashley Miller, SAVMA’s Global and Public Health Officers.
The Wednesday, June 24, 2020 webinar features Dr. Kane as she discusses the role of honey bees in One Health.
Dr. Terry Ryan Kane entered veterinary school at the University of Illinois with a Master’s degree in Ecology from UI Chicago. She took beekeeping from the UI Extension Service during vet school as part of an animal behavior project. As a pilot, she was interested in their navigation and communication behavior, the “waggle dance”. She was an AVMA-AAAS Congressional Science and Technology Policy Fellow 2010-2011 in the U.S. Senate working on antibiotic resistance, emerging diseases, and food safety/security. She returned to Ann Arbor, MI, and began A2 Bee Vet, a veterinary practice serving our honey bee keepers and other pollinators. She currently serves as secretary on the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium, is a member of the AVMA's Committee on Environmental Issues and is co-editor of a new book coming out later this year, Honey Bee Medicine.
