This cover was supposed to be a project just for fun. As our previous band, Lost Signs, went on an ever lasting hiatus.
Turns out that we all enjoyed this project so much, that we decided to form Vemork. Named after the hydroelectric power plant in Rjukan, Norway. The power plant served an important part during WWII because of its heavy water that Nazi-Germany needed for the atomic race.
But thanks to the norwegian resistance, In February 1943, a team of SOE-trained Norwegian commandos destroyed the production facility in Operation Gunnerside; this was followed by Allied bombing raids. The Germans ceased operations, and attempted to move the remaining heavy water to Germany. Norwegian resistance forces then sank the ferry carrying the heavy water, the SF Hydro, on Lake Tinn.
