In this video, I took the opportunity to do an informal shootout, and compare five different editions of the classic RCA Living Stereo title, Rimsky-Korsakoff's Scheherazade with Fritz Reiner conducting The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Produced and engineered by the Mohr/Layton team, this is not only a great sounding recording, but in my opinion, a reading of the work without peer. Although I didn't intend this to be part of the series "Building A Classical Record Library," I think its a good one to drop into that playlist as its such a great starting title for anyone just getting into classical music.
