Ccomposer, arranger, and percussionist, Vince Montana, parted ways with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff in 1974 and helped set up the Salsoul label in New York. The Salsoul Orchestra enjoyed some hits over the next couple of years; the biggest being “Tangerine” which reached #18 in 1976.
“Merry Christmas All” is an excellent Christmas record with its bluesy vocals and reflective lyric. The vocalist here is Denise Montana, daughter of Vince Montana. The song was issued as the b-side of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”; both tracks appearing on the album, “Christmas Jollies”, which charted at #48 on the album charts.
